Building and racing bikes; we just do what we've always done.
Planet X is basically Dave Loughran. Well it was to start with anyway. Dave started bringing Powerbars into the UK way back when Triathlon started and everything was neon. He then spent a few years bringing in top brands such as Lemond, Fondriest, Casati, Rocky Mountain and Odyssey under the Tritech name.
Then we started making dirt jump bikes and bringing in other bits under the Planet X name. Then we designed and made a time trial frame which we sold under the HED name plus the Little Audrey road bike. This was our first proper road bike and the design that established our pro geometry and reputation for serious performance at ridiculous prices. And, seeing as Yorkshire roadies love nothing more than getting a great deal we haven't looked back since.
We learned a lot along the way, not least from a who's who of northern pro-racers riding our bikes and giving us feedback.
Carbon aero bars got us into using carbon fibre and then came the Stealth aero bike and the SL Pro road bike. Somewhere along the line we started the On-One mountain bike brand as an offshoot, which has been a massive success too.
Unsurprisingly, making really sorted bikes at a cracking price has meant we've grown a lot. So while our Doncaster warehouse will always be remembered for giving its postcode to our custom blend Chromoly we've now got a spanking new building in Rotherham.
Proper warehouse, workshop, nice offices and even a showroom where you can see and try the bikes for yourself. Dave's even found himself a right big desk that somebody had left behind.
At the end of the day though we're still doing the same as we've always done. Making the best bikes we can and selling really good stuff to people without ripping them off.
