Planet X Ti Sportive Frame

The perfect long distance love affair

Lightweight and ultra strong, yet fluid enough to suck the sting out of back road centuries, titanium is the perfect material for long distance challenge rides. The Ti Sportive is a custom tuned and shaped tubeset for long haul responsiveness and comfort. It's also been perfectly proportioned to produce effortlessly fast endurance ergonomics that are perfect for shrinking summits and shortening horizons. All at a cost that makes our competitors look distinctly uncomfortable.

Price is for frame only. Fork, headset, seat clamp and front mech clamp should be purchased seperately. Frame includes barrel adjusters.

Sizing Notes

All frame size recommendations are approximate. A good fit will also depend on the correct choice of stem length, correct bike set-up for the rider and riding style.

Correct frame size choice can vary greatly with riders' torso length. If you have longer legs and a shorter torso, go for a slightly shorter stem. If you think you are borderline between sizes, and you have longer legs and a shorter torso, go for the smaller frame size. If you have shorter legs and a longer torso, go for the larger frame size to get the extra top tube length.

As the frame sizes increase, so does the length of the head tube. If you are inflexible or perhaps have a history of back problems, consider going for a larger frame size. This will increase the relative height of the handlebars making the position less “extreme”. The larger frame will also have a longer top tube, so you’ll need to compensate for this with a shorter stem.

This is a sportive geometry bike, so it has a slightly shorter top tube than the equivalent sized race geometry bike.

I must admit to being a fan of Lynskey frames, so I bought a Ti Sportive to be my training frame. I was blown away when it arrived, the quality of the welding is faultless, it is a thing of beauty. You could spend another £500+ for other makes (and even "UK Craftsmanship", which means a long wait and shoddy Ti welding), but frankly you would be wasting your money. I built up mine with a Cane Creek headset, Kinesis DC07 fork, Campagnolo Centaur groupset and Scirocco wheels with Michelin Pro 3 Grip tyres. As soon as I set off I could not stop grinning. The ride is exactly as you expect, smooth and no nasty wobbles from poor geometry or headset flexing. It is not super stiff like a carbon or aluminium frame, but neither did I notice any bottom bracket flex. Gripes? I would have preferred an extra set of mounts for rear panniers (not that I have any rear panniers, but you never know) and my frame has clearance for 25mm tyres with mudguards. I hear later frames have clearance for 28mm tyres, which is perfect. Highly recommended, a beautifully made frame which will make you smile every time you ride it.
