Planet X R50 50mm Carbon Race Wheels Team Edition

These new versions of our classic hand built 50mm carbon wheels are the same pro quality but are now sold off the peg. Still hand built to the same exemplary quality they are true market leaders.

Saving rotating weight is one of the best ways to increase performance and from  just 1292 grams per pair, our team edition Carbon 50 aero wheels are amongst the lightest carbon wheels on the market.

Race proven, featuring Smooth-Wall Technology carbon fibre means better uniformity of the carbon layers. Carbon rims are laced up with Sapim's CX-Ray aero spokes on the radial wheels and Aero spokes on the 2x laced wheels both are laced on Planet X Pro hubs.

Currently only available with the front wheel laced radially, these wheels are light, true, strong, but above all very fast!

Technology

We use a Smooth-Wall Technology production method on our new Team Edition SL Carbon rims.

Smooth-Wall Technology does away with the traditional air bags used in most carbon production - it makes the internal surfaces as smooth and wrinkle free as the outer surface. This means better uniformity of the carbon layers and reduces the wrinkles and voids in normal carbon wheel production - ultimately this means greater strength, minimum risk of stress fracture, and a significantly lighter, yet stronger carbon product.

The team Edition SL carbon rims weigh in at a super sprightly 350g and come with external nipples. The Smoothwall Technology is also used the production of our top end Nanolight and Exocet frames.
