Last weekend he raced Youth Men (his first season in the category) in the first round of the British Downhill Series (BDS) down at Combe Sydenham, near Taunton, Somerset.
So somewhat of a mixed bag in terms of results. Plenty to build on.
At least Nial's happy with the bike: "The bike is sick. I really like how quiet it is to ride, even through rock gardens and landing massive jumps. In this build in weighs 37lb, great for a DH bike and it feels nice and light. Suspension is amazingly plush and grippy."
Here's hoping Nial can build on this result, put some quality training and testing time in with the bike, and do himself justice at BDS Round 2 up at Fort William.
